Have you ever seen someone tell a story that was so amazing – so brilliantly crafted and delivered – that it still sticks with you years later? I know I have, and that’s what got me asking myself, “how did they do that?” “What do they know about storytelling that I don’t know?”

Storytelling That Sticks for Business and LifeI started asking that question in 1996, when I was just beginning my professional speaking career. Since then, I have researched and found the answers. I applied what I learned to my profession as a keynote speaker, and later, as a leadership, sales and marketing trainer and coach to some of the top Fortune 500 firms, in 18 countries.

Along the way, I developed The Story Theater Method for Strategic Storytelling in Business. Story Theater is the integration of what I learned as a professional actor, (onstage, and in movies and TV), combined with what I learned as a keynote speaker when I applied comedy, drama, and acting skills to my stories. This methodology enabled me to build an international, multi-million-dollar speaking, training and coaching business. And I did it with just five really good stories.

The stories and examples in Doug’s book will make it easier for you to become a better business storyteller. You’ll be inspired to take your stories to the next level so that you can in turn inspire your audience.

I just had to share this with you. I spoke last Wednesday to 1200 people. I nailed it. It was the storytelling, humor and staging that you taught me. The content was the same except for this. I had people lined up and the meeting planner said I was the best speaker they’d ever had. Thanks for your coaching and ongoing support. You’ve got a gift.

In this podcast, I’m going to teach you how to be memorable – unforgettable – and how to choose, craft and deliver stories that make a point, teach a lesson, and sell a product or service.

Do you have a story that you want to tell, that could teach a powerful lesson? Is it a story that you feel you must tell, not for yourself, but because it could make a difference in the world? Have you been wanting to share your story, but you don’t know how?

Your Story Can Set You Apart and Make You Memorable

Do you remember the story and the storyteller or speaker that inspired you? You can be that good, and you don’t have to possess some natural storytelling ability. You just need to learn how to craft a story with storytelling form and structure, and add the magic of emotion, drama or comedy. You need to learn how to make the point of your story stick, so that they remember the point and they remember you.

And of course, you need to learn how to deliver your story with honesty, authenticity, and professionalism. You don’t need to be an actor to use The Story Theater Method to improve your storytelling. You simply need a desire to take your stories to the next level.

My experience speaking and teaching storytelling internationally has proven to me that storytelling is the universal language. Everyone loves a good story. More importantly, everyone learns best through a good story.
Think of this podcast as a home study course – with how-to lessons, guest interviews and live coaching sessions. I’ll share with you the stories that I used to grow my business, and then, I’ll break them down and analyze them. I’ll take you behind the curtain to reveal the secrets that professional speakers and storytellers use to blow people away with their stories. Are you ready?

Whether you are speaking in front of 10 people in a company meeting or 500 people in a hotel ballroom; at a TED conference or fundraising event; your story will set you apart, get you noticed and maybe even, makes you tons of money.
